Help Us Make A Winning Entry – 6th July 2023

Battle Town Council was thrilled to gain a Gold Award in the South & South East In Bloom competition last year. The town is entered in the ‘Small Town’ category again this year. The front Almonry Garden is competing in the Small Parks category and the cemetery in Marley Lane is aiming for gold, too.

The competition isn’t all about flower displays. 40% of the marks are for Horticultural Achievement, but the remainder are divided equally between Environmental Responsibility and Community Participation. The town will be judged on how we tackle everything from horticulture, conservation and sustainability through to litter, graffiti and anti-social behaviour, and our community spirit and civic pride.

As the judge travels between various locations, he will inevitably pass by your property and everything he sees will affect the marks. We are therefore hoping that residents might take a fresh look at the front of their property and consider whether it might benefit from a little spruce up before judging happens on Thursday 6th July.

You may be interested to know that Battle Town Council has asked Beautiful Battle to use bright colours for the displays this summer. If you have your own planters or hanging baskets, perhaps you will consider using bright colours for your summer planting, too.

Good luck Battle!
