New picnic tables

We are delighted to report three new picnic tables have been sited in the town – these were purchased with kind donations from Battle Muffins, for the skate park and with funds from The Rotary Club of Battle for the community garden at Cherry Gardens and the recreation ground on North Trade Road.

Southern Trains Passenger assistance is now available only 2 hours before travel

From today, passengers can book assistance only 2 hours before travel

We know that some passengers may need more time or extra help when travelling with us. From today we’re making it easier for them to get assistance by shortening the booking time to 2 hours before travel.

“In the drive to win back customers we aim to make our services open to all and people can book assistance with us at any time on their journey if needed”, explains Passenger Service Co-ordinator Team Leader, Ryan Aldridge.

“However, to make sure we have staff available, we do ask that they give us some advance notice if possible.”

Booking window has come reduced from 12 hours since 2021

“This booking window has been reducing across the industry over the last two years. It went from 12 hours down to six in 2021 and now it’s come down again to 2 hours. This is great for anyone that needs help as it makes it much more convenient for them to travel by train.”

Battle plans to help Ukrainian refugees

If you, or organisations that you belong to, could offer support or have ideas about how Battle can support Ukrainian guests or their hosts, please come to the Shephard Room in Battle Memorial Hall any time between 19.30 and 21.00 on Tuesday 29th March. Your suggestions and offers of help will then be collated to form an initial support plan, which will be shared with residents at the Parish Assembly on 23rd April.

Representatives from Battle, Rye and Bexhill are working with Rother Voluntary Action / Rother District Council to start getting plans in place.

Fires & criminal damage at Battle Recreation Ground

Fires & criminal damage at Battle Recreation Ground

Following several incidents of wheelie bins being taken onto the recreation ground, on North trade Road, and set alight, along with other criminal damage, Battle Town Council are asking residents and visitors to the town to report anything suspicious to the Police to support CCTV evidence already submitted by the Council.

There have been 2 fires this week and whilst these incidents are potentially very dangerous they also result in Council essential funds having to be diverted to repair/replace damaged buildings and park fittings.
